Artist statement
My influences are the art that I'm inspired by for example graffiti is my key interest in art so I like to be inspired by the work of graffiti similar to the work of Banksy. I enjoy the craziness of his artwork so I try to interrupt this style in my work. I also enjoy photography, I like to link some of the pictures that I take to my work that I make. For example I did a project based on trains so I went out and took some photos of trains that I saw when I was out and about.
My style of work is mostly drawing from life for example I draw photos of graffiti pieces I find that I've taken and I draw them into my sketchbook as part of my development. I normally see something that interests me and I like to think about it and draw it later. I also enjoy creating models I take inspiration from the internet of designers like James Dyson and Anthony Gormley. I also like to use different medias like paint and pastels in my drawings.
I have achieved a final piece where I made a 3D train painting, I made a wire frame and then later layered it with PVA glue and tissue paper. I then made a wooden fence using sticks from a bamboo mat that I'd found. I then wrapped the wire round the sticks to create a join.
I feel like I'm becoming more experimental with my work, and my style is still evolving.

Tips and advice on interview preparation
Tips and advice on interview preparation.
- Try and think about what the interviewer might ask you.
- Make sure you've researched into the company
- Make sure your portfolio's in good order
- Think of questions you want to ask them
- Dress nice, in all interviews they will consider the way you dress to consider whether to employ you
- Be on time to the interview
- Make sure you know where the company's office is so you don't get lost
- They would ask you for previous work. Make sure you sit down and go through your portfolio make notes similar to if you were sitting an exam.
- Make sure you bring everything they tell you to bring for example your passport.

The jobs related to art are jobs like:
Art Technician - The art technician involves working in a school where you help the teacher prepare for lessons. An art technician also orders equipment and supplies and who also prepares for art exhibitions.
You will need a GCSE or equivalent qualifications in English Maths and at least one science subject. However in this day and age its more common for technicians to have higher qualifications. You will need a relevant HNC/HND, foundation degree or degree.
Advantages - You receive good pay. You also gain an understanding of how a lesson would work.
Disadvantages - You may get tired by the work load. You also require qualifications in English, Maths and Science.

Your degree must contain at least 80 credit points. Your degree must cover fine art and design. From a range of the following subjects: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Textiles, Photography.
A disadvantage of being an Arts tutor is that you would require a lot of grades.

A advantage you gain an understanding in how people express themselves in making art. You also gain experience and understanding of how art is made in different ways.

I would consider being a professional photographer for this I would need a first class degree in photography before I go onto a getting a professional photographer job.
A lot of photographers are self employed so they take on their own business. So I would need some business skills to sell my pictures that I go out and take, I would also need to learn about marketing skills to manage the money.
To go onto one of the jobs I would need to go onto further education. If I wanted to do one of the jobs I would need to gain some experience. To go onto further education I would need to look into possible colleges to study at to gain a higher education. I would also need to find out about higher education grants. I need to continue practicing and adding work to my portfolio.

This was a website that I created. I started off at the home page where I'd change the background picture. The picture I knew had to be something related to art so I got the image from the photo options they had. I came across this one which looked like my kind of thing. I liked the position of the paint pallet in the corner and the blank piece of paper for the title so I went with this one.
I could see the page was looking blank so I decided to include a picture in that would go along with my website so I found an image of a paint brush. I then added my phone number for people who want to contact me including where I live on the map.

Good ways to stand out in your portfolio

Only include design portfolio examples for a full - time position. If you don't include context in your artwork its hard to judge.
Make sure you include annotations of why the work was created.
It doesn't mean that your portfolio must include client work. Self initiated projects are certainly acceptable in full time applications.
Don't bulk out your portfolio with old or irrelevant work, make sure you have a thorough clear out.
If you wanted to be well known for what you do, it might be a good idea to create an official website with your artwork and maybe back ground information. It would also be useful if you had your own business card so if someone wanted to buy your artwork or contact you they can have a card with your contact details on.
You can also use social media websites like Facebook or Twitter to advertise yourself so people can comment back on it.
If you wanted to come across in an arty way you could wear arty and suitable clothes to your interview. Experiment around with what you want to wear and how you want to come across to the interviewer. In an interview the interviewer is likely to look at the way you dress. They also consider whether what you chosen to wear is appropriate.

University of The Arts London
They promote themselves through images. They also use a big claim and fact to promote they're page for example "Top 5 for Art and Design". They offer days at the college for example The postgraduate Open Day.
In their website they've used an alphabetical order system, so its easy to follow and find the right course.
They have a downloadable prospectus I would go to an open day at the college. By reading their website you can find out what its about. Or going to an induction day.
They are a good university because they offer their telephone number so you can call them up to find out more about the courses or their company. They also have Uni stats so you can find out more facts about them. The uni stats is a government website so its not biased.
Comparing 2 university courses
The National Design Academy Interior Design course fees cost £4500.
You study the course mostly online and this could be online anywhere in the world, Its also part time and flexible and its via the internet.
It takes 4-5 years to complete the course.
The techniques they offer are Research and contextualisation followed by space planning and Design in historical context and Creative lighting and technology.
To qualify from the course you don't need an exam, The tutor will assess your assignments as you submit them.
They have the requirements you need to follow by the side of the web page which explains the course to the viewer.
I would choose this course because the length of how long it runs sounds good.

Reflective Development Plan
My skills are creating samples in my sketchbook, I could improve this by making a creative piece that involves samples in my sketchbook. Photography is different from what I've been doing because its taking pictures of things you find interesting rather than researching or trying out different artist techniques.

There are other reasons like there is more of what I like to do here. It also costs less if i stay at the college rather than going to University out of town because I don't have to travel around as much. It would cost less to stay around rather than going to a new university. In order to become a professional photographer I would need to learn how to do that I would need to study photography.
